First Presbyterian Church of Fernandina Beach Welcomes Interim Pastor Karl Kling

On June 1, First Presbyterian Church of Fernandina Beach welcomed the Rev. Dr. Karl Kling as its Interim Pastor. Karl recently completed an interim term at First Presbyterian Church in Gainesville. Prior to his time in Gainesville, Karl transferred from the Flint River Presbytery, where he had served as Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Bainbridge, GA.

Karl and his wife Susan arrived in Fernandina Beach just before Forrest Foxworth was ordained as Parish Associate for Family Ministry, an exciting event for the church.  Karl is looking forward to supporting and encouraging the church’s current vibrant ministries and also helping the staff and congregation prepare for their next installed pastor and exciting new season of ministry.

Born in northwest New Jersey, and the son of a Presbyterian minister, Karl received his M.Div. from Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, CA, in 1981, and later received his D.Min. from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 1989, with a focus in Pastoral Leadership and Pastoral Counseling. His wife Susan is a Public Health Nutritionist; son David is a Presbyterian pastor in Huntsville, AL; and son Michael is an electrical engineer in St. Petersburg, FL. Welcome back to our presbytery, Karl!
