Come away and rest a while. (Mark 6:31): The gospel narrative reminds us that Jesus’ disciples were sometimes so busy that they barely had time to eat. In response he invited them to a time and place of rest. Jesus himself was known to go away to a deserted place to center himself and pray. Join us for a few days of rest and restoration as we reflect on God’s regenerative powers. Be renewed by the sounds of the ocean and fellowship of colleagues. Yes, come away and rest a while.
Guest speaker, Rev. Jon Brown, is the pastor of Old Bergen Church, an historic (chartered in 1660) and multicultural congregation located across the Hudson River from Manhattan in Jersey City, NJ. He previously served as Director for Mission Interpretation in the national offices of the Presbyterian Church (USA), as program director at Montreat Conference Center, as well as serving churches in Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina. He has led keynote and worship at the APCE Annual Conference, Montreat Youth Conferences, the Presbyterian Youth Triennium and other events. A native of Orlando, FL, Jon looks forward to returning to Florida.
Cost
Shared Double Room – $200 per attendee
Single Room – $300 per attendee
Clergy Couple (both teaching elders sharing single room) – $345
Additional Meals for non-clergy spouse – $45.00
When you register you will be given the option of paying online or mailing a check to the presbytery office.
Cost includes all meals except Tuesday night dinner and last meal is breakfast Wednesday morning.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I bring my spouse?
If your spouse is not clergy and you are paying for a single room, your spouse may stay with you at no extra charge. Your spouse will also have breakfast included. If your spouse would like to eat meals with the group, please add an extra $45 in your payment. At this time, we do not have any special activities for your spouse, but they are free to come and enjoy the beach and worship with us and eat with us.
What is the cost for clergy couples?
The cost is $345 per clergy couple.
Are there any hidden fees?
No. The El Caribe has no resort fees, and they are waiving all parking fees for the conference.
What should I bring?
Bring yourself, your Bible, and sunblock! The hotel has a pool right by the ocean. It may be a bit cool in October.
What is the schedule?
We will start with dinner at 6:00 p.m. on Monday but you are welcome to come early and enjoy the beach. We will have mixers, our first session with our speaker, and evening vespers. Tuesday, a light continental breakfast is available at the hotel if you choose. We will gather for morning prayers and singing, followed by our morning session with the speaker. Tuesday afternoon is free time! Enjoy the beach. Explore Daytona. Rest awhile. We are working on some optional activities for you as well which we will present when planning is complete. Wednesday morning a light continental breakfast is available at the hotel if you wish. We will gather for our final session with the speaker, followed by communion worship service. We will be on our way rejoicing by noon.
