The core group that is focusing on the presbytery’s “discernment and design” work met at Montgomery Presbyterian Conference Center on October 29, and we will meet again on November 19 and January 7.  Our current task is to “assist the Presbytery of St. Augustine with defining its identity, mission and focus as the gathered saints of the presbytery.”

At our October 29 meeting, our consultant Jana Ertrachter guided us as we spent time in prayer and fellowship, reviewed our goals, set expectations about the process, and built a shared understanding of the presbytery’s current situation (including strengths and areas where attention to improvement is needed).

We worked on a plan for reviewing Holy Listening information in depth and for obtaining other information that is needed for the discernment and design process.  We will begin sharing some of the insights from those listening visits in the near future.  Next steps were determined, and specific assignments were made so that our November 19 meeting will be productive and beneficial.  Steps include reaching out to individuals and groups for more input and information that will reflect many views and needs.

We will continue to report on the visioning process on a periodic basis, and we welcome comments and questions, which should be directed to the moderator, Edd Norris, or the vice-moderator, Ralph Moulder.

We also covet the prayers of the entire presbytery as we seek to glorify Jesus Christ in our work and in our lives!
