In October and November, we welcomed two new pastor members – George Head and Craig Davies – to the Presbytery of St. Augustine.
George Head is the new pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Palatka. He comes to us from Trinity Presbytery in South Carolina where he served at the Westminster church in Columbia. Among his many interests, he enjoys preaching, people, and great music. Pastor Head received his Bachelors of Music from Jacksonville University, his Master of Music from the University of Tennessee, and a Master of Divinity from Columbia Theological Seminary. George has served churches large (Peachtree) and small (Auburndale) and plays the cello professionally. He and his wife Debra are excited to be in Florida serving the Palatka church and community. They are avid bicyclists and kayakers, and they look forward to enjoying the wide variety of outdoor recreation opportunities available in Palatka! We expect to announce the date of his installation service at the Palatka church very soon.
Craig Davies is a retired pastor who moved here from the Presbytery of Tampa Bay. He is a history major (Grove City College) who obtained his seminary education from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Craig was head of staff at First Presbyterian Church in Inverness for twenty years and served churches in Michigan, Colorado and Florida before that. Most of his service to his presbyteries has been on the Committee on Ministry. Currently, Craig is serving as temporary supply at our Arlington church. He enjoys reading, travel and sports (especially golf and swimming). Craig and his wife Marcia are looking forward to new opportunities to get to know the local community and the people of the Presbytery of St. Augustine.
We thank God for these new friends in our midst. Watch for more new minister introductions in our next newsletter in January!
