The annual Mutual Mission youth exchange ended July 22nd after two weeks of excellent bonding and service from our team of 17 youth and leaders from Jamaica and Florida. During our week in Ocala, we volunteered at Interfaith Emergency Services, a large outreach to those in need of food and shelter. We also provided two separate spiritual days of bible stories, fellowship and other activities for local faith-based organizations–Skill Day Center, which provides free tutoring to elementary and middle school children; and Transitions Life Center, an organization devoted to serving adults with physical and mental disabilities. We also enjoyed a day of worship and fellowship with area churches, and days off at St. Augustine and Disney World.

This trip would not be possible without a great deal of support from area churches. Many thanks to Alan Cummings and Silver Springs Shores Presbyterian for providing our home in Florida for the week. Additionally, the following individuals and churches helped in providing meals, transportation and behind the scenes organizing: Drew and Suzi Marshall, Andy Gans and Fort King Presbyterian, Raymond Guterman and First Presbyterian Ocala, Dudley Weaver and Memorial Presbyterian and Charlie Rumpel and Weirsdale Presbyterian.
