Bruce Hedgepeth was installed as the pastor of our South Jacksonville church on Sunday, February 28, 2016. Bruce was ordained in 1995 and comes to our presbytery from the Presbytery of Peace River where he most recently served at the Church of the Palms in Sarasota, Florida.
The sermon message was brought by the Rev. Les Comee, and the choir led the congregational singing and provided additional worship music (“Here I Am Lord” as an anthem and “I Will Sing New Songs of Gladness” as a vocal prelude). Cynthia Montgomery led the service of installation, and after Bruce and the congregation answered the constitutional questions, he was charged by Darren Bess, and the congregation was charged by Sandra Hedrick.
The church provided a reception in thanksgiving for the installation, and many of those in attendance stayed to welcome Bruce and his wife Cindy to the church and the presbytery.
The commission elected to install Bruce on behalf of the presbytery included: Cindy Anderson (RE – Community); Darren Bess (TE – First Ocala);Jodi Dodge (RE – Peace); Sandra Hedrick (TE – Stated Clerk and Kirkwood); Cynthia Montgomery (TE – At-Large and former Moderator); David Pierce (TE – Hodges Boulevard (excused)); and Tom Ranney Jr. (RE – South Jacksonville).
Transitional Executive Presbyter Steve Benz, Presbytery Moderator Ralph Moulder, and participants from other churches around the presbytery were also present in the service and at the reception to share the community and the joy of the occasion.
We invite you to view more photos of this and other presbytery events on our Facebook page.
