Dr. Paul Hooker

Paul Hooker joined the staff of the presbytery in October 1999 as Executive Presbyter and Stated Clerk, after serving parishes in Kingsport, Tennessee and Atlanta, Georgia, for twenty years. He holds academic degrees from the University of Tennessee (BA, 1975), Union Theological Seminary in Virginia (D.Min., 1979), and Emory University (Ph.D., 1993). Paul serves as head of staff for the presbytery, and carries specific responsibility for Administration and Finance, Nominating & Representation Committees, Evaluation and Review, Personnel, Institutional Support, Judicial Business, Stewardship, Spiritual Growth and Leadership Development, Committee on Ministry, and the Presbytery Council. He is one of the Trustees of the presbytery. In his capacity as Stated Clerk, he serves as chief constitutional officer of the presbytery. He teaches in the field of biblical studies and preaching.

Paul is married to Pat Thiede, a public health nurse who serves the clinic at the I.M Sulzbacher Center for the Homeless in Jacksonville. He has two grown children, Chris and Bethany.

 

Dr. Michael E. Williams

Michael Williams became a member of the Presbytery of St. Augustine in 1986 when he joined the staff as Associate Executive. Over the years his staffing responsibilities have covered a variety of areas including New Church Development, Youth and Young Adult Development, Montgomery Presbyterian Conference Center Committee, Preparation for Ministry, and the presbytery’s partnership with the Jamaica Ecumenical Mutual Mission. Within the office, Mike is sometimes referred to as the "Alpha geek" because of his oversight of the computer system.

Having been born in Washington State and growing up in North Dakota, the Williams eventually made it to Atlanta Georgia. Michael has degrees from Davidson College, Columbia Theological Seminary and McCormick Theological Seminary. He served the church in Waynesboro (VA), Charleston (WVA), and Lexington (KY) before coming to Florida. He is married to Sharon Friedrich Williams (a member of Riverside Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville) who works as a media specialist in the public school system. The Williams have two grown children, one grown cat, a young dog and a pond full of goldfish.

 

The Rev. Alisun Donovan

Alisun Donovan joined the presbytery staff on January 2, 2001 as the interim Associate Executive Presbyter. Prior to her work here, she served for six years as the Director and Pastor of the Presbyterian and Disciples of Christ Student Center in Gainesville, FL. The Student Center serves students from the University of Florida and Santa Fe Community College. Alisun continues as a resident of Gainesville where she maintains a regional office.

Alisun’s education includes a BA in Fine Arts and a BA in Education from the University of South Florida and a MDiv from Columbia Seminary. Her interests in previous presbyteries include Peacemaking, Christian Education, Worship and Theology. Currently she staffs the the Mission Development Committee and the Evangelism and Church Revitalization Committee.  Alisun also serves the Committee on Ministry and Nominating & Representation Comittees. 

Alisun is happily married to Jack Donovan, chaplain with Hospice of NE Florida. They have 3 children, 4 cats and a poodle. Alisun is an avid reader, an artist, and likes to stay physically active. When she is at home she attends Westminster Presbyterian Church.
