Our Presbyterian polity encourages all church councils – including presbyteries – to delegate aspects of their tasks to other bodies that remain accountable to the council.  The Presbytery of St. Augustine has three standing commissions, each of which is empowered to “consider and conclude referred to it” by the presbytery.  Disposition by a commission is final, except that decisions may be rescinded or changed when reported to the council that appointed it (G-3.0109b).

Teaching elders and ruling elders are elected to serve on these commissions for the terms set out in our Manual of Operations.
