The Presbyterian Handbook When I first looked at this book I thought it kind of “hokey”, for it is written in a breezy, humorous way. But the more I read of it, the more possibilities I saw for informing many of our members who come from other traditions in an easy, readable manner. In a style similar to the Survivor’s Guide books, this handbook provides historical and theological information about Presbyterian beliefs along with fun-filled facts and practical tips on being a churchgoing follower of Jesus Christ, such as: how to stay awake during a sermon and how to take up the offering. This unique and handy resource is perfect for Presbyterian youth, new members, newly installed elders and deacons, and all those interested in learning about life in the church. It also has some entertaining illustrations. This book can be purchased through Presbyterian Publishing, PP6-0664502881. Paper $14.95. Geneva Press, ISBN-13: 978-0-664-50288-1 Reviewed by Rev. Earle Sickels, member of the presbytery's Spiritual Growth and Leadership Development Committee.
