Session 1 (8:45 AM - 10:15 AM) - Choose One

1. Introduction to Christian Spiritual Practices – Learn how to create free time and space for experiencing God in the midst of our busy lives using the ancient spiritual disciplines of our church mothers and fathers. We will focus on three practices: Lectio – reading/ listening to Holy Scripture; Meditatio – meditation; and Contemplatio – contemplation. Led by Rev. Amy Camp

2. Labyrinths, Creating Your Own – explore alternative designs for this spiritual tool for walking meditation, prayer, reflection, discernment and listening for the still, small voice of the Holy. Consider creating one for yourself at home, on the beach, at your church. Participants will have an opportunity to create a finger meditation labyrinth and participate in a labyrinth walk together. Led by Rev. Kathy McLean

3. Yoga as Meditative Practice – The Hebrew word “ruach” is translated as “breath” and “spirit” in the Bible. Breath is the central practice of yoga. Whether you are novice or committed practitioner, come to experience yoga as a meditative practice linking mind, body & spirit (bring a towel or mat). Led by Bethany Crawley

Session 2 (10:30 AM - Noon) Choose One Topic

4. Cooking as Spiritual Practice – Create a simple, healthy, tasty meal as an intentional act of artful, creative worship and learn ways to take this focus back home to create meals as a spiritual practice each day for ourselves and others. We will serve our meal to all retreat participants at noon. Led by Rev. Kathy McLean

5. Embodied Prayer, A Doorway into Liminal Space – Simple prayer movements will give you a practice to hold your prayers that are too big for words. We will use the movements in combination with Ignatius’ Daily Examen. No special physical ability is needed. Please bring a towel or mat and something in which you enjoy writing. Come, be touched and inspired. Led by Rev Jeanne Miller-Clark

6. Music, The Call to be Fully Alive – The early church fathers and mothers believed "the greatest glory to God is being fully alive". Experience a variety of musical expressions to the Divine and explore the breath of the creative and ever-changing Spirit in each of us for each of us is a song. No musical experience necessary. Led by Shellie Jacobs

Session 3 (1:30 PM - 3:00 PM) - Choose One Topic

7. Gardening as Spiritual Practice – rediscover the centuries-old practices of combining prayer, meditation, and silence with the physical acts of digging, planting, harvesting, and pruning. Design your own sacred gardens (bring your dimensions), plant seeds, and root cuttings. Led by Gardener Victoria Freeman.

8. Letters from Dads – Most people do not have a tangible piece of paper bearing their father's blessing. If you were to die today, what would your children hold in their hands tomorrow that would let them know they were the treasures of your life? Leave a legacy of faith, hope and love through the lost art of letter writing. Led by Rev. Gabe Goodman

9. Personal Rule of Life –A full spiritual life goes beyond Sunday morning and bedtime prayers, encompassing the way we work and play, eat and breathe, love and learn. Debra K. Farrington’s Living Faith Day by Day will help us find inspiration in the “rules” of monastic life to strengthen our love of God. While not required, you may want to buy the book in advance of this session. Led by Rev. Rebecca Langer
